When a Residential Sideboard Meets the Demands of Contract Design (#05)

Horm Stories #05

We’ve just returned from a business trip to Budapest, where we explored how a product originally designed for residential spaces was reimagined with new materials and finishes to meet the needs of a large, luxurious hotel.

The protagonists of this story are the Carlos sideboard, Horm’s top-selling piece designed by Renato Zamberlan, and the Clark Hotel, furnished by MCXVI ARCHITECTS. This hotel, located in the heart of Budapest just steps from the Danube, makes luxury and exclusive furnishings its defining feature.

The Clark Hotel’s most unique characteristic is its unmatched river views, a feature that shaped the design of each guest room, where every element was carefully tailored to harmonize with the environment.

This is where the Carlos sideboard comes in. For this project, it was redefined in both materials and colors: the signature white slats running across each door were replaced with a “dark” version, and the wood used for the structure was specifically reengineered at the client’s request to provide the durability required for contract use.

We returned from this trip feeling both enriched and satisfied, seeing firsthand how Horm was able to respond to the client’s requests with precision and punctuality, thanks in large part to the support of our technical division, which has always been one of the company’s greatest strengths.
