The Redesign of Ikea Lugano’s New Lounge Area (#02)

Horm Stories #02

In this edition, we share the story behind the redesign of the new Lounge Area at IKEA LUGANO, located within Ingka Centres Switzerland, and how Horm furniture helped the designers redefine the space, creating environments that are both functional and comfortable.

The project, led by SantaSofia27 Milano and directed by architects Mattia Vittori and Daniele Borin, aimed to address some of the shortcomings of the previous lounge: a space that was too anonymous and lacked intimacy, failing to provide the appeal that Ingka Centres was seeking.

The two Italian architects reimagined the lounge to create a space of strong personality and visual impact, emphasizing comfort and modern design. Through careful attention to colors and materials, they managed to infuse the area with a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a welcoming environment for visitors.

Within this holistic vision, several pieces from Horm and Casamania’s soft contract collection were seamlessly integrated.

Customized upon request in colors and finishes, the Sienna armchairs and Summit modular sofas, the Albino Family coffee tables, and the Network shelving units were able to completely transform the outdated image of the previous Lounge Area, creating a striking combination of textures and colors that is both original and engaging.

This project serves as another testament to how Horm furniture can meet a wide range of design needs—even when the client is one of the largest furniture producers in the world.
