Hong Kong’s Bibo Plays Host to Street Art (#08)

Horm Stories #08

Today, we want to share a brief story about Bibo Restaurant in Hong Kong. We had the opportunity to visit it during a business trip—a truly remarkable venue unlike anything we had ever seen before.

Bibo is far more than a restaurant; it is a collaborative art project where some of the most renowned contemporary and street artists come together in a single space. Maxime Dautresme, Creative Director of A Work of Substance, who oversaw the project, envisioned a restaurant and bar that would serve as a backdrop for the works of artists such as Vhils, Invader, Mr Brainwash, Mist, Banksy, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Damien Hirst, and Yayoi Kusama, to name just a few.

At the heart of the project is a love for street art: artists from around the world were invited to create installations directly on the restaurant walls, expressing themselves with complete freedom. Bibo has thus become a true urban art masterpiece.

No detail is left to chance, starting from the luxurious and striking entrance with marble floors and elegant lighting fixtures. As you descend toward the bar, the designer’s inspiration from French Art Déco becomes evident: from arched ceiling corners to brass piping, from parquet flooring to French oak, every element is meticulously curated.

It is in this stunning environment that Casamania’s Maritime Chairs contributed to making the space truly unique. For the occasion, they were customized with dark wood and blue leather upholstery, harmonizing perfectly with the room’s color palette. This is yet another demonstration of the Maritime Chair’s versatility, showing how a simple change of finish can allow it to seamlessly adapt to such a distinctive and extraordinary space.
