The Hide Hotel Flims: Best of Switzerland 2023 (#24)

Horm Stories #24

In this Story, we’ll take you inside The Hide Hotel in Flims—a trendy destination nestled in the Swiss Alps. Conceived to welcome young travelers in search of an urban-inspired design experience, this project was honored with the prestigious Best of Switzerland 2023 Award by the Falstaff Hotel Guide.
The building itself is part of a modern multifunctional complex that includes shops, cinemas, restaurants, and sports facilities, as well as the cutting-edge Hide Hotel. The hotel was designed by Erik Nissen Johansen of Stylt Trampoli, a multi-award-winning design studio based in Gothenburg. Known for its innovative and unconventional approach, the collective draws inspiration from Renaissance ideals of creativity, innovation, and cross-border collaboration.

The desire to infuse an urban style sensibility is immediately evident in the design language: the traditional use of wood, alpine motifs, and mountain-hotel décor has been replaced by a more contemporary interpretation of alpine hospitality.

Upon entering, guests are greeted by a burst of color that reflects the building’s avant-garde spirit: sofas, armchairs, and poufs upholstered in ruby red, emerald green, and mustard velvet stand out against indigo-blue walls and ceilings with exposed piping. The entire hotel is a study in contrast—raw concrete walls meet the softness of rich velvet upholstery, creating a dialogue between industrial edge and refined comfort.

The bar evokes the atmosphere of a London club, while the lounge feels like a stylish urban living room with a pastel-toned suspended fireplace. The suites are showcases of iconic design and geometric textures, featuring integrated bathrooms finished with black mosaics, metallic mesh partitions, and brushed bronze mirrors.

Many of the hotel’s furnishings were custom-designed for The Hide Hotel Flims, yet design enthusiasts will instantly recognize Casamania’s Lepel chairs. Designed by Luca Nichetto, in both the chair and armchair versions upholstered in velvet, Lepel elegantly furnishes the hotel’s dining area, infusing it with an air of sophistication and contemporary flair.

Once again, Casamania’s furniture proves its ability to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, adding a timeless touch of class that elevates the entire design experience.
