When Design Becomes Provocation: Him & Her at Ushuaïa Ibiza (#45)

Horm Stories #45

Today, we’re taking you to Ibiza—but not the usual Ibiza.
We’re bringing you to a place where architecture meets excess, design flirts with provocation, and every detail makes a bold style statement: welcome to the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel.

Yann Pissenem – visionary, founder, and artistic director of Ushuaïa – has completely rewritten the emotional and visual map of Playa d’en Bossa. Once a marginal and forgotten area, it has become the beating heart of the international jet set. The very name, Ushuaïa, evokes the extreme, the limit, the ultimate frontier: and it is precisely there, at the edge of imagination, that a concept of hospitality has taken shape—one that is simultaneously a show, a permanent installation, and a pop manifesto.

Music, of course. From David Guetta to Kygo, from Martin Garrix to every major figure in the global electronic scene. But also aesthetics. Here, design doesn’t just furnish—it exaggerates. Giant frogs, pink pigs, and oversized ants populate both the spaces and the imagination.

And at the heart of this surreal universe, two icons of contemporary design: HIM & HER, the famous sculptural seats designed by Fabio Novembre for Casamania.

Inspired by the iconic Panton Chair but reimagined in an anthropomorphic key, HIM & HER are more than mere furnishings. They are bodies—sensual and playful forms that embody the ever-present tension between masculine and feminine, between function and art. At Ushuaïa, they are not used. They are experienced.

A perfect choice for a place where the environment is never just a backdrop, but an active protagonist, constantly evolving. Because design, when bold, tells more than a style—it tells the story of an era.

Once again, Casamania seating has succeeded in its mission to astonish, transforming a simple daily act—sitting—into an aesthetic and playful experience.
