Connection with the environment and the recovery of the past are the cornerstones of Architect Marco Piva (#04).

Horm Stories #04

Today, we want to talk to you about Milan: a city we deeply admire for its forward-looking vision and its status as the undisputed capital of design, where new architectural models are constantly being explored. Last week, we met with clients in the San Siro area and shared our impressions of the numerous redevelopment and urban regeneration projects that are set to transform the district.

One of the most compelling contributions to this neighborhood metamorphosis is the urban Masterplan, including the Syre residential complex, designed by architect Marco Piva. The philosophy behind this design concept is both simple and fascinating: to create new spaces, buildings, and green areas that are connected to the heritage of their context, preserving it while giving it new life.
Syre reflects Marco Piva’s commitment to rethinking and redesigning living spaces, immersing residents in a fluid narrative of forms, materials, colors, and emotions—elements considered essential for sustainable urban regeneration. It represents a fresh vision of city and landscape, of indoor and outdoor spaces, and of public and private life, redefining the rules of contemporary residential lifestyle.

We greatly admire Marco Piva’s approach to architecture, particularly the ethics and professionalism of his studio, which is characterized by in-depth research into forms, materials, and new technologies. The goal is always to create value for all living environments, fostering a true culture of design that harmoniously merges past and present to enhance and regenerate architectural, historical, and artistic heritage. A prime example is the careful restoration of Palazzo Bertarelli in Milan—home to the Touring Club Italiano and now the Radisson Collection Hotel—where Marco Piva’s studio meticulously revived the building’s original beauty, creating an interior and architectural experience that preserves the essence of the “journey,” a central concept of TCI.
This connection with the environment and the respectful integration of history into contemporary design are fundamental principles of Studio Marco Piva, and they also reflect the design philosophy that Horm embraces and promotes.

This shared vision became the cornerstone of the collaboration between Marco Piva and Horm, resulting in the creation of the Plaza collection: a refined assortment of tables, sideboards, and chairs designed to elegantly interpret both intimate residential spaces and modern hospitality environments, where design and conviviality meet in a harmonious balance of style and functionality.
Until next time.
